Internet Marketing Experiment
or…How I made 16p with just two hours work!
I don’t know about you but I am very skeptical about claims that I hear all the time from internet marketers about how they made thousands of dollars by just sending out one email whilst they sunned themselves on the beach in some exotic location.
So after an exciting time at the World Internet Summit meeting lots of people both old and new friends, i decided to put this theory to the test.
Firstly I set up a new WordPress site on a domain I had lying around which was targetting Tai Chi. I used a nice clean SEO friendly theme Frugal. I then installed Jeff Johnson’s excellent free SEO plug in . So far so good but this isn’t going to earn me money.
So, firstly I needed to add some content. I don’t know anything about Tai Chi so looked for an automatic solution and found a great one at WP Robot. I started off with the free version which is fully functioning but only gets Clickbank products for you by keywords. I soone realised how powerful this bit of software was and so purchased the full suite which will link to Amazon, Clickbank, Ebay, a couple of article sites and a few other useful sites.
With WP Robot you can set any number of keywords and set it to fetch content at various intervals or just let it do it randomly. I soon had a lot of content some of which potentially could earn me money.
I wanted to really push this so I also added an Amazon widget with appropriate content and an adsense box.
Then I left it to its own devices until yesterday when I checked Adsense and found I’d had 84 visitors, a 5% clickthrough rate and had made 16p. I was so pleased. No it’s not earth shattering but it’s a start!
Now I’ve set up a new Twitter account which automatically takes the new blog posts as they happen.
